Sunday 6th February - Valletta, carnival and Gavin' Birthday
Managed to sleep in till 9.15 and we all (all the students staying in the hotel), except Gavin, went to Valletta with the intention of visiting the Museum of Archeology. However on our arrival we found a Sunday market which we browsed but refrained from buying anything other than a birthday present for Gavin as it was his 21st. We then found it was the Karnival De Malta so we walked through the main gate and around a large seating area before finding a spot to sit and wait for the carnival to pass. As it turned out we waited an hour while watching various performers wandering around before the carnival floats started taking up position in the street. The main proceedings, which consisted of a dancing competition, was taking place in the square surrounded by seats.

And we managed to surprise Gavin with a birthday cake, the restraunt even played happy birthday over the music system and the Japanese tour sang along.
